The families with low incomes from the municipality of Chisinau can submit applications for cold-month allowances until the end of the 2014-2015 heating season. In a communique, the Chisinau City Hall says that over 29,000 applications have been filed so far, IPN reports.

Cold-month allowances are given to the residents of the municipality, including pensioners, whose monthly income per family member does not exceed 2,500 lei. The monthly allowance represents 40% of the heat bill in the case of centralized heating and 450 lei in the case of individual heating, for paying the gas bill or for purchasing wood and coal.

A sum of 69.2 million lei was planned in the 2015 draft budget of Chisinau municipality for paying cold-month allowances.

Almost 31,000 families benefited from such allowances during the 2013-2014 heating season. A sum of 55.8 million lei was allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose.
