Over 2,800 pupils receive books and school supplies

With the start of the new school year, more than 2,800 pupils from about thirty schools received an educational kit consisting of a schoolbag, supplies and books. The donation is part of the Pupil’s Box project, supported by the Romanian Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova.

The project is aimed at general secondary education students of Moldovan schools who rarely attend school or are at risk of dropping out. During the entire 2022-2023 school year, students from the target group will have access to video-recorded readings, in Romanian, given by Monica Davidescu, actress of the Romanian National Theater. The actress will read both from the books that the students received in the pupil’s box and from other volumes.

The project aims to increase students’ interest in attending school, reading and learning, as well as enriching the personal libraries of children in the Republic of Moldova with books in the Romanian language, it is stated in a press release.
