More than 270 fire hydrants will be substituted in the municipality of Chisinau. About 140 hydrants have been replaced so far this year. There were also repaired over 160 hydrants. The information was made public by the technical production director of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” Vitalie Midari in a meeting, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the public water utility.

Vitalie Midari presented an electronic map of the hydrants. “With the help of this electronic map, the specialists will be able to determine the hydrants’ location, their functionality and who manages them. Every hydrant has its own code and passport based on which they can establish the exact address and installation date and if the pipes are in need of repair,” he stated.

As a result of inspections, specialists of the Chisinau Emergencies Commission determined that the water supplier respects the protection norms and removed all the irregularities. The water utility manages 1,931 street fire hydrants.
