Over 2,600 trucks with leaves and construction waste gathered in Chisinau

A number of 2,630 trucks with leaves and construction waste were taken away from Chisinau since the start of the autumn cleanup campaign that was launched on September 18, said the General Housing and Amenities Division. Also, about 400 workers are daily involved in manual cleaning of public spaces, yards of apartment buildings, waste collection platforms and public transport station and these also empty garbage bins, IPN reports.

“Along with manual cleaning, the main arteries, secondary roads and sidewalks were cleaned in a mechanized way, with the assistance of Hako machines and leaf vacuums attached to tractors,” said the Division.

There were also performed works to demolish improvised and unauthorized kiosks, gates, fences and car parking blockers on public places, to dismantle old metal elements from playground in yards of apartment buildings, to take away construction waste, dry leaves and branches.  Ten to 35 units of transport were made available to municipal enterprises for transporting away vegetal waste.

When the volume of leaves was large, Avant mini-loaders were used to facilitate the loading works.

The General Housing and Amenities Division said the clearing and territorial development works will continue and measures to maintain sanitary order will be taken until the end of the autumn cleanup campaign and later.
