Over 25,000 pupils will spend their summer holiday in camps
As many as 25,200 pupils of Chisinau preuniversity institutions will enjoy summer rest in the Chisinau camps, according to a Chisinau Municipal Council’s decision approved at Thursday’s sitting. Over 90,000 pupils attend schools in the municipality.
This summer, as against last year, the authorities intend to increase by over 400 the number of children who will benefit from rest both in the day-camps and in the recovery camps. According to the decision, the municipal budget is to cover expenses totalling about 22 mln lei for keeping up the summer camps for children.
Out of the total number of tickets, 25% will be allocated free of charge to children from disadvantaged families and to those attending auxiliary and boarding schools. As in the past years, 20% of the ticket fee will be paid by parents, the rest – by municipal budget.
The ticket for children preferring day-camps will cost 625 lei, while for those choosing rest and recovery camps – from 1000 to 1300 lei.
Concurrently, about 195,000 lei will be allocated from the budget for the organisation of rest for children in the camps from Sergheevca, Ukraine. Only children coming from socially underprivileged families will benefit from rest in Sergheevca.
At the same time, the Government hopes to provide summer rest to 60% of the students studying in pre-higher education institutions in Moldova. Overall, it is planned to spend about MDL 75 mln from the local budgets this summer for ensuring the activity of the rest camps.
Out of about 450 thousand children aged 7-16, about 52%, spent their vacation in camps in 2006.
