More than 250 applications have been submitted to the Energy Efficiency Agency for enrolment in the program of subsidizing biomass boilers on the first day of the enrolment program – May 17. The size of the subsidy granted from EU funds is up to €1 300. In a press briefing, the Agency’s director Mihail Stratan said the high number of applications for subsidizing biomass boilers for households shows that the state policies on renewable energy are successful and that the biomass fuel market is functional, IPN reports.
During the next period, there will only be accepted applications from small and microbusinesses that want to install biomass heating systems with cost reimbursement from EU funds. Twelve applications were already filed for the 15 offers. Of the 150 subsidies of the program, 135 are intended for households.
The subsidy program was launched in 2012. ”Starting with 2012, subsidies of over 20 million lei were provided from European funds for installing 920 boilers for households. Together with the call of 2016, the number of boilers subsidized with European funds will rise to 1 020,” stated Mihail Stratan.
The size of the subsidy is €1 300 and, respectively €500, depending on the technical parameters of the selected boiler. The program beneficiaries will receive the subsidy after the signing of the contract and installation of the biomass boiler in the own home or at the company. The selected boilers must be produced or partly assembled in Moldova and will be purchased from 24 accredited companies.
