More than 24,000 hectares of forests affected by pests will be sprayed with pesticides by helicopters. According to the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva”, these forests belong to the forestry companies of Calarasi, Tighina, Telenesti, Sil-Razeni, Cimislia, Chisinau and of the Natural Reserve “Plaiul Fagului”, IPN reports.
The chemicals used in the process are not dangerous for humans. But the owners of apiaries located nearby are warned to keep the beehives closed those days. The domestic animals must also be kept away from those places and it is recommended avoiding picking up mushrooms or resting in the forests in the period.
The days when the spraying works will be carried out will be chosen depending on the weather conditions, in the period between April 20 and May 9. All the mentioned forestry companies are anytime ready to start the works. The local authorities were asked to disseminate the information through the local press and to inform the population directly.
