In 2023, 22,500 patients received specialized healthcare at the Phtysiopulmonology Institute; among these, 100 are refugees from Ukraine, IPN reports.

IOM Moldova, with the financial support of the German Federal Foreign Office, donated to the Phtysiopulmonology Institute a flexible bronchoscope equipped with a camera, light source, and optical fibers to enable direct and real-time visualization of the airways.

Airway obstructions, pulmonary tuberculosis, and pulmonary cancer are the three primary health conditions identified during a bronchoscopy, an endoscopic diagnostic and medical treatment procedure.

According to the Phtysiopulmonology Institute, it is expected that up to 1,400 people with various lung diseases will undergo bronchoscopy procedures each year.
