More than 200,000 users ported their phone numbers during five years, since the number portability service became available in Moldova. Over 183,000 users ported mobile phone numbers, while almost 17,000 landline phone numbers, IPN reports.
According to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, the number portability service in the first half of 2018 was used by over 15,000 persons. Of these, 14,100 persons were mobile phone users. The average mobile number portability rate was 2,300, an increase of 2.4% compared with the corresponding period last year.
In the case of mobile portability, Moldcell is the provider that in five years ported the largest number of numbers to its network – 99,500. It is followed by Orange with 47,700 numbers and Moldtelecom (Unite) with 36,300 numbers.
As to landline number portability, StarNet in five years ported 7,200 numbers, Orange – 3,700, Moldtelecom – 1,900, while other carriers– 4,000 together.
