The staff of the Chisinau City Hall and its subdivisions are to plant over 20,000 trees and bushes in the capital city within the greeting campaign “A tree for our eternity” that is carried out on October 31, IPN reports.

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, alongside municipal councilors and employees of the City Hall, planted trees in the Rascani Forest – Park situated on Mihail Sadoveanu St. MPs and functionaries of the Parliament’s Secretariat planted trees on areas managed by the Cioresti forest company situated in Nisporeni dustrcit.

As the previous years, the Ministry of the Environment allocated about 1 million lei from the National Ecological Fund for purchasing saplings. These were distributed to all the country’s districts for being planted.

The Republic of Moldova is among the European countries with the smallest wooded areas. This figure in the country is much below the European average of 30%.
