The preparations for the National Wine Day in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau are close to an end. More than 2,000 tourists from all over the world made reservations to take part in this event. Twenty-two foreign journalists were accredited to cover the event, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Gheorghe Gaberi said the 13th National Wine Day is for the first time organized by the National Office of Vine and Wine that started work this year. “The best national wine producers will be present at the event and we hope we will impress the guests from abroad,” he stated.
Vice director of the National Office of Vine and Wine Vitalie Panuta told the journalists that the 45 wineries that will participate in the event are preparing the tents. There will be staged the Wine School to teach the participants how to correctly choose the wines that go with particular dishes. Maps showing the way to different activities for the guests’ convenience will be placed at the entrances to the central square of Chisinau. Guests from Central European Countries, the United States, Japan and India are expected to take part in the event.
Diana Lazar, representative of USAID CEED 2, which is the event’s strategic partner, said the project supports the promotion of correct and rational consumption of wine. The organizers prepared tourist tours to six national wineries. The tourists will purchase tickets and will go on tours right from the Great National Assembly Square. The foreign journalists will pay visits to the wineries today, to find out Moldovan legends about the wine.
The National Wine Day starts at 11am on October 4 and ends in the evening of October 5. There will be staged different contests, concerts and gastronomic events.
