From 350 to 395 workers are daily involved in manual cleanup works in Chisinau municipality. On Sundays, about 75 workers are on duty. Also, mechanized cleanup works are carried out on the main and secondary arteries of the capital city and also on sidewalks with the help of Hako machines and road sweeping machines attached to tractors. About 20 units are daily engaged in such works. Only last week, about 210 trailers with waste were gathered in Chisinau and taken away, IPN reports.
“According to the approved schedules, the works to clean and wash sidewalks, garbage bins and public transport stations were executed. Also, two underground passages on Dacia Boulevard were washed last week, including the one near the Airport and the one near Titulescu Square,” the head of the General Housing and Amenities Division Ion Burdiumov stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
He noted that the district head’s offices and employees of a number of municipal institutions staged a campaign to clean the Byk riverbed, from Ismail St to Grădina Botanica St. Cleanup works were also carried out in Valea Trandafirilor Park, in the Rascani Forest-Park, etc.
Works were performed to demolish improvised and unauthorized booths, gates, fences and anti-parking devices in public spaces. Worn-out metal elements were dismantled and taken away from playgrounds in courtyards of apartment buildings. Construction waste, dry leaves and branches were also collected.
“The cleanup campaign continues. We are going to announce the locations in advance so that everyone can get involved together with us. I want to inform that the authorities provide transport, gloves, bags and everything necessary for high-quality cleanup,” stated Ion Burdiumov.
The cleanup campaign in Chisinau began on March 4 and will run until May 3.
