Over 1m people visited Moldova’s pavilion at EXPO Milano 2015

The world exhibition in Milan, in which Moldova took part with an own pavilion, is over. According to the Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO), Moldova’s pavilion during the six-month exhibition had been visited by over 1 million people. The number of visitors in October exceeded considerably organizers’ expectations, being at least twice larger than earlier, IPN reports.

The MIEPO said that Moldova’s pavilion started to be disassembled on November 1. The works are carried out by the Italian construction company that set up the pavilion and will last until next March.

The Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization, which was responsible for Moldova’s participation in this event, is designing the conception of a public contest where the pavilion will be used again. The contest will involve state institutions, private companies and foreign investors. The main condition is to possess land and sufficient financial resources for investing and putting the pavilion to good use.

EXPO Milano is one of the most important world exhibits. Founded in 1851, this event became a symbol of industrialization and represents an open platform for showcasing the technical and technological progress. EXPO 2015 involved 140 countries and a lot of international organizations. The exhibition occupied an area of 1.1 million square meters and was visited by over 20 million people.
