Over 194,000 private individuals submitted tax returns

More than 194,000 private individuals who do not carry out entrepreneurial activities honored their obligation to submit tax returns for 2016, by about 35,000 more on a year before, IPN reports.

Of these, more than 172,000 persons signed pre-completed statements. Over 16,000 private individuals presented the tax returns on paper, while over 6,000 in an electronic format.

The private individuals are obliged to submit tax returns by April 30, but the deadline this year was extended until May 2 owing to the nonworking days.

Under the Tax Code, the private individuals face a fine of 1,000 lei if they do not present tax returns, of 200 lei if they present tax returns with delay and of 1000 lei if the statement contains incorrect data.
