The Chisinau Appeals Court ordered to confiscate the remaining €10,000 of the €1,620,685 that was smuggled through the Leușeni customs post in April 2020. By the same decision, it was ordered to seize the equivalent value of the unit of transport (591,309 lei) that was used to smuggle the money, IPN reports.

On April 15 this year, the Hâncești Court ordered to confiscate €1,610,685 of the smuggled amount, while €10,000 and the truck by which the foreign currency was attempted to be smuggled through the Leușeni customs post were returned to the culprit.

The punishment for the truck driver remained the same – a two-year suspended sentence.
