SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) daily monitors the quality of wastewater through its wastewater lab intended for business entities, which was accredited in accordance with the international standards. Over 16,000 physical-chemical tests were performed at the lab last year alone. The lab is outfitted with metrologically tested modern equipment and has reagents that meet the European standards, IPN reports.
In a press release, the public utility says is employs the principle that the polluter should pay depending on the pollution level caused to the environment and makes effort to ensure the high quality of drinking water and appropriately treat the wastewater that is discharged at the wastewater treatment station and then into the Byk River.
According to the relevant methods and standards, lab tests should be performed during two-four hours up to five days. The sealed samples brought in the afternoon, which cannot be examined at that moment, are kept locked in the fridge and are opened by persons in charge the next day at 8am. The samples of wastewater are not stable in time and can be kept for eight days of the receipt and are then thrown away.
