More than 145,000 persons of the professional contingents and groups with an increased risk of infection were immunized against seasonal influenza with GC FLU quadrivalent until now. The figure represents 83.3% of the total over 174,000 persons of these categories. The National Public Health Agency on January 1 this year had over 53,000 doses of vaccines in its stores.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the flu vaccines are intended for professional contingents and groups with an increased risk of infection and development of post-flu complications. These are: children and adults exposed to a high risk of complications caused by flu, children with chronic diseases, elderly people and persons from old people’s homes, pregnant women, employees of public health facilities, including the CNAM, students, residents and teachers of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy who are involved in the provision of medical assistance to infected persons during a pandemic, employees of the border police, customs officers, personnel of old people’s homes and persons with disabilities, etc.
As to the COVID-19 vaccines, the Ministry said the shots to the country will be supplied through the COVAX platform that will provide free doses of vaccines for 20% of Moldova’s population. Resources are also allocated for purchasing vaccines for 30% of the population. The Romanian authorities promised they will donate up to 200,000 doses of vaccines to Moldova.
The Ministry of Health encourages the vaccination against COVID-19 also of persons who were immunized against flu.
