The authorities this year intend to plant over 140,000 trees and bushes on the National Greening Day “A Tree for Our Eternity”. On the last Saturday of this month, everyone is invited to become involved in greatening activities. Details were presented in a news conference held by the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, IPN reports.
Valentina Țapiș, secretary of state at the Ministry, said the National Greening Day is annually marked on the last Saturday of October. But the authorities plan to extend the planting activities in November. At local and central levels, the areas where trees and bushes will be planted were chosen. There were also be identified the degraded areas that need to be greened.
Deputy head of the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection Vadim Stângaci said the over 140,000 trees and bushes will be supplied to the local public authorities. Planting activities will also be performed in the areas managed by “Moldsilva” Agency.
The costs for the over 140,000 trees and bushes are covered with resources from the National Ecological Fund.
“Moldsilva” Agency director Ion Haralampov said the institution in autumn intends to plant new trees on an area of 531 hectares and to take measures to improve the quality of the wooded areas created the previous years.
The participants in the greeting activities will plant mainly oak trees, while on degraded areas – willow trees.
