As many as 143 infections with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in primary and secondary education institutions of the municipality of Chisinau among students. Another 124 cases of infection involve education system employees, 110 of whom are teachers. The data were presented in the ordinary Monday meeting of officials of Chisinau services, IPN reports.
Deputy mayor of Chinua Angela Kutasevich said that 2,734 students from 120 classes or groups have been placed in quarantine. These are from 44 education institutions, seven of which are private ones. 119 employees were also placed in quarantine because they came into contact with infected persons, primarily in the family.
“There were reported no hotbeds or cases of transmission inside institutions, from student to student,” stated the functionary. Last week, the education process with the physical presence of students was resumed by 82 classes of 39 institutions.
In kindergartens, there were reported two cases of COVID-19 among children and 27 cases among employees. As many as 94 children and 25 employees of five kindergartens are self-isolating.
Moldova so far has got 56,500 infections with the novel coronavirus, 24,800 of which in the municipality of Chisinau. The red alert in Chisinau is maintained.
