Fifty-five general education establishments from 21 districts stopped work, while another 42 schools reduced the length of classes owing to the unfavorable meteorological conditions. Over 14 000 students didn’t reach school.
According to the information service of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, 144 school routes were suspended and thus more than 7 600 students could not reach school.
Contacted by IPN, Viorica Negrei, acting head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of Chisinau, said that none of the education institutions in the capital city and its suburbs stropped work and the number of absences from classes wasn’t significant.
The State Hydrometeorological Service extended the orange code advisory for heavy snow and sleet until 8pm on January 18.
