The Ministry of Education will provide 300 free tickets to summer camps to school students from the Transnistrian region. Another 100 tickets are intended for Romanian students. The Education Ministry recommends the local public authorities to provide 25% of the number of tickets to children from socially deprived families free of charge. Contacted by IPN, the head of the General Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education Division Ecaterina Semchenkov said there will be opened 79 summer camps for 100,000 children and 351 day camps for 33,000 children.
“The students from socially disadvantaged families and those with disabilities can apply for free tickets at the education divisions or social sections,” said Ecaterina Semchenkov. To date, the Ministry of Education hasn’t received tickets to international summer camps.
Under a Government decision on the organization of the leisure time during the summer of 2013, the price of tickets to summer camps is set by the local public authorities. A day in summer camps will cost about 130 lei, while in camps of sports schools – over 145 lei. Compared with last year, the average price of a day in camp is by 3-5 lei higher.
The summer camps are funded from the state budget and the budgets of the territorial-administrative units, with money paid by parents and with the special means allocated by companies.
This year the summer camps open on June 3 and close on August 28.
