Over 126,000 vaccine doses distributed to inhabitants from left side of the Nistru

The Republic of Moldova redistributed 126 307 COVID-19 vaccine doses for being administered in the Transnistrian region and in the municipality of Bender. The vaccine doses were provided from the humanitarian aid and the purchases made with budget funds, IPN reports, quoting the Reintegration Policies Bureau of the State Chancellery

The vaccine doses were distributed equitably and proportionally to all the territorial-administrative units of Moldova. Most of the COVID-19 vaccine lots were offered free to Moldova by the foreign partners, with financial and technical support from the EU, the Government of Romania, the WHO Regional Office for Europe, and the Russian Federation, and also from purchases made by the Center for Centralized Public Procurement in Healthcare from Chinese vaccine producers.

Besides the vaccines, the beneficiaries from the Transnistrian region received multiple humanitarian lost that contained individual protective equipment and modern medical devices.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Moldova was launched on March 2 and 556,000 persons or 12% of the population have been immunized so far, with 63,000 of these being from the Transnistrian region.
