Patrol inspector during two weeks identified more than 1,200 violations of the Road Traffic Regulations committed by drivers of passenger transporting minibuses. The National Patrolling Inspectorate said some of the drivers seriously violate the traffic rules and endanger passengers’ lives, IPN reports.
The violations were ascertained during an operation carried out by the National Patrolling Inspectorate during March 18-31. The use of vehicles with technical defects is the most often violation. The inspectors identified over 300 such violations. The public transport drivers also do not obey the rules concerning the transportation of persons and travel at speeds higher than the legal limit.
There were cases when the vehicle ran on route without being subject to a technical overhaul first or when the drivers had licenses of an inappropriate category.
The patrol inspectors call on the citizens to demand to stop the vehicle when the driver behaviors suspiciously or aggressively, deviates from the itinerary or is anxious so as to be able to get out, to call the 112 service so that the competent bodies could intervene or to notify the operators of the carrier.
According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, a video analysis showed the minibus drivers working in Chisinau commit by a serious road traffic violation every minute. Among the violations are the non-giving way to pedestrians, stopping outside stations or even on the roadway to take passengers and maneuvering from one lane to another without turning on the necessary signals.
