More than 10,000 children are first graders in the 2024-2025 school year in Chisinau municipality. The information was presented by the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports Andrei Pavaloi at the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

He also said that this year, three educational institutions in Chisinau municipality staged school year start festivities on Sunday, September 1. The other students, teachers and parents marked the beginning of the school year on Monday, September 2.

In this connection, Andrei Pavaloi said that over the last two weeks, all the institutions were provided with school textbooks. However, the schools in Chisinau face a shortage of teachers.

“We have 261 vacancies of teacher: 115 in general education, cycles I and II, and 154 in preschool education,” stated the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports. The educational institutions of Chisinau employed fewer than 100 new teachers who are young specialists.

Referring to the summer season, Andrei Pavaloi said that the camps organized by the Chisinau City Hall were attended by over 17,500 children.
