In the first 10 months of 2008, 1,052 offenses committed by officials were reported, of which 29 “active acts of corruption”, 182 “passive acts of corruption”, 244 cases of bribes, 150 – power abuses, 205 – power excesses, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the General Prosecutor's Office. Because of corruption suspicions, 14 police have been probed, 19 public servants, 5 customs officers, 1 prosecutor and 64 functionaries. Because of offenses related to corruption, criminal proceedings have been started against 43 police, 24 public servants, 2 customs officers and 71 functionaries. During 10 months the local prosecutor's offices carried out 94 controls realted to fighting corruption and protectionism.
