More than 1,000 garbage bins are to be placed in Chisinau in the immediate future. These will be first set up near bus and trolleybus stations and in parks and squares, IPN reports.

In the ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, the Public Amenities Division’s head Petru Gontea said the new waste bins will have a capacity of 49 liters. The bins used now in the city have a capacity of 29 liters. About 40 new bins have been placed so far, while the rest will be installed during a month.

Petru Gontea also said that besides the over 1,000 garbage bins, there will be also set up 100 bins of a new model. These include three sections for the selective collection of waste. About 5,000 waste bins are now needed in Chisinau.

The over 1,000 bins cost about 3 million lei. The money was provided by the Ministry of Environment and the Chisinau City Hall.
