Over 100 cultural events held in Transnistria during Martisor festival
The festival Martisor 2010 in the Transnistrian region ends on March 10 with a concert at the Tiraspol-based Drama and Comedy Theater “N. Aronetskaya” that will involve artists of the folk music and dances group "Viorica”.
More than 100 cultural events have been held in Transnistria this month during the Martisor festival. They brought together artists from both banks of the river Nistru as well as from Russia, Ukraine, South Ossetia and France, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in Tiraspol reports.
According to the Transnistrian education ministry, which is one of the organizers of the event, the festival promotes the conservation of the cultural patrimony of the peoples living in the region and the development of cooperation in culture and arts.
The Martisor festival has been organized in Moldova since 1967. In Transnistria, it has been held since 1991.
