More than 100 cases of seasonal flu were recorded in Moldova last week, out of the 178 reported so far this season. Also, over 13,000 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections, mostly in children, were logged during December 5-11, IPN reports.
The National Public Health Agency said that morbidity related to acute upper respiratory tract infections last week was of average intensity, with the number of cases being by 37.2% higher than a week before. 66% of the 13,195 cases were in children younger than 14. The hospitalized patients with such infections represented 3.2% of all the cases of infection.
As to flu, most of the cases – 76 – were recorded in the municipality of Chisinau. Cases of flu were also reported in Bălți, Fălești, Ialoveni, Edineț etc. It goes to A(H3N2), A(H1N1) and type B flu.
The acute upper respiratory tract infections were the cause of hospital admissions in 2.9% to 4.8% of all the cases of admission.
Immunization against seasonal flue in Moldova goes on. It is recommended getting a vaccine against flu simultaneously with a shot against SARS-CoV-2.
Specialists also recommend further respecting the prophylaxis measures, such as personal hygiene, hand hygiene and disinfection, maintaining of physical distancing. If symptoms associated with flu or upper respiratory infections appear, the person should avoided crowded places and should wear masks in public spaces.
