“Ours” Party to hold constitution congress June 12

A new party emerged on the political arena of the Republic of Moldova. The Party “Ours” will hold its constitution congress on June 12. In a news conference at IPN, the leader of the initiative group Mihail Ahremtsev said that after eight months of work, the team reached the stage when it can announce its constitution. The party cannot run in this year’s snap elections, but those from the initiative group are confident that time will come when they will enter Parliament.

Daria Feodorova, a member of the initiative group, spoke about the directions on which they will concentrate their attention. Among the priorities is the Transnistrian region that is halfway towards obtaining the recognition of its independence, being now in an economic blockage. They should now work more than ever to restore confidence, to ensure closer contacts with those from the region, including at political level. Considerable attention will be devoted to Gagauzia so that this does not become the second Transnistrian region. Investments are needed also in other regions of the country so that the people do not leave home. The Party “Ours” will do its best for the people to want to live in the Republic of Moldova. It also goes to good roads, accessible medical services and highs salaries, stated Daria Feodorova.

Initiative group member Ilie Kisileov said the Party “Ours” will do so that real independence is ensured in the country so that the functionaries work not for foreign sponsors, but for the people. “What kind of independence can we speak now about if the Western ambassadors openly say what kind of Parliament they want to see in the country and show what laws we should adopt?” he noted.

Adelina Castraveț, a member of the initiative group, said she is tired of politicians who make promises and forget these after elections. The young people have to leave the country so as to build a better future. No one thinks about them and offers them the chance to remain at home. The Party “Ours” will promote high-quality education in all the country’s regions, will stop the closure of schools and will propose an authentic education reform. It will also form a youth Parliament and a youth municipal council. The houses of culture in villages should be reanimated.

As to education, Anastasia Ahremtseva stated they will insist on the opening of Russian teaching classes in all the education institutions. The party will promote the introduction of punishment for discrimination based on ethnic criteria or spoken language, given the discrimination against Russian speakers.

Initiative group member Tatiana Telipiz noted that a party should be ready for dialogue and should be close to the people. The Party “Ours” stands ready to bring about changes and to ensure equal rights for all.

The intention to create a new political party in the Republic of Moldova was announced last October.
