The nomination of a common candidate for President by the opposition would be a serious blow to the government, but the Moldovan opposition is unable to do this, Valeriu Ostalep, director of the Institute of Diplomatic, Political and Security Studies, said in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.
“A common candidate of the opposition would have been a powerful message to our government that has discredited itself during the last seven years. But what we have cannot be called opposition or at least genuine politicians. They are infantile politicians. They do not trust each other because they know each other well,” stated Valeriu Ostalep.
He considers the idea of nominating a common candidate on behalf of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity” is doomed to failure. “These discussions reached deadlock from the start. Afterward, Leanca, as it was expected, abandoned the negotiations. It is a waste of time,” he said.
Valeriu Ostalep noted that five or six candidates have real chances of winning the elections. These represent the same known names and have the same messages and strategies.
