OTP Bank supports sustainable development in Moldova

OTP Bank has taken another step towards expanding its positive impact on environment and society. Climate change represents a global existential challenge and requires the reconfiguration of all business processes to minimize the carbon footprint and stimulate an environment-friendly economy.

On March 26, OTP Bank signed a partnership agreement Moldova Future Technologies Activity, financed by USAID, Sweden and Great Britain. This partnership will support OTP Bank's efforts to transform into a green bank, a leader in providing sustainable financing for both local businesses and individuals.

"Our goal is to accelerate the development of the green sector in Moldova, offering financial solutions responding to local needs. I would like to thank our international partners for their commitment to work closely together to identify investment policies and strategies that will enable us to deliver sustainable growth to our clients. The financial sector must significantly increase the share of sustainable projects to support global climate change mitigation measures," said Bogdan Spuza, President of the Executive Committee - CEO, OTP Bank.

"Collaboration with the Future Technologies Project is particularly timely. We are in the process of developing new solutions for local business in the fields of renewable energy, eco-agricultural and industrial products. The results of the analysis within the project will be used to develop the range of these products and personalize support offered to customers," highlighted Elena Guzun, Vice President of the Executive Committee, Director of Commercial Corporate Banking, OTP Bank.

"The combined efforts of OTP Bank and Moldova Future Technologies Activity will be focused on creating financial mechanisms, products and services for entrepreneurial ideas related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable transport and green infrastructure. Funding these initiatives will directly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ameliorating climate change and protecting natural resources, with the objective of passing on a cleaner environment to future generations. Green financing is no longer just a trend, but an existential necessity," said Doina Nistor, Director, Moldova Future Technologies Activity.
