Osipov, Yastrebcheak meet at residence of U.S. Ambassador
The political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol to the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks, Victor Osipov and Vladimir Yastrebcheak, Friday had a meeting at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau.
The main topic discussed in the meeting was the sentencing of journalist Ernest Vardanyan to 15 years in prison by a Transnistrian court, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Reintegration Office, Victor Osipov reiterated the Moldovan authorities’ firm position that the Moldovan citizens Ilie Cazac and Ernest Vardanyan are innocent and they should be set free immediately.
The communiqué also says that the political representatives examined a series of issues from the agenda of the working meetings that are aimed at making the work of the confidence building groups more efficient. The interlocutors agreed that the proposals discussed in the last informal meeting in the 5+2 format held in Kiev on November 15 and 16 should be developed.
