The key negotiators of Chisinau and Tiraspol to the Transnistrian conflict statement talks, Victor Osipov and Nina Shtanski, will convene a common meeting of the heads of the groups of experts for building confidence on March 20. The political representatives agreed this in the first meeting in the 1+1 format held this year and the first since Victor Osipov’s appointment to this post, IPN reports.

Victor Osipov told the journalists that the meeting was important and considers that the launched discussions are promising. This first meeting was an opportunity to reassess the relations that existed until now and to give up certain steps that led to the worsening of the relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol. “We do not want to waste time on problems created artificially. We decided to convoke all the heads of the working groups for building confidence so as to give a new impetus to this work format,” stated the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration.

They are to also agree a new round of Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format with the dialogue partners. Victor Osipov and Nina Shtanski analyzed the possibility of Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici meeting with the Transnistrian leader Yevgheny Shevchuk in the near future.

For her part, Nina Shtanski said the decision to resume the activity of the groups of experts for building confidence, which has been stagnant for a period, is welcome.

The last meeting of the key negotiators of Tiraspol and Chisinau was held last October. The sides accused then each other of making the relations tense.
