OSCE to do its best to resume talks in 5+2 format, mission head in Moldova insures

“The OSCE missions will make all efforts to resume the talks in the 5+2 format the soonest possible, as well as the work of confidence-building joint working groups,” the head of the OSCE mission to Moldova, Philip Remler, said at a meeting with Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the presidential press unit, the discussed, in detail, aspects related to the prospect of settling the Transnistrian conflict. The President reiterated the Moldovan side's availability to participate in bilateral and multilateral consultations to resume the talks in the 5+2 format. Vladimir Voronin reconfirmed the proposal on organizing working meeting with Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov, in Tiraspol. The head of the state backed the initiative of the mediators and observers in the settlement process regarding holding consultations in the 5+2 format, on October 7-8, in Vienna, confirming the participation of the Moldovan side. Vladimir Voronin mentioned those consultations can serve as a good basis for resuming the 5+2 format talks. The President also underlined the importance of keeping the stability and of not admitting tensions in the security zone. He said the Moldovan side would make all efforts for this stability to bear a sustainable character, what would contribute to attaining the final goal of settling the Transnistrian conflict and of establishing the special legal status for Transnistria, preserving Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
