OSCE representatives ready to accompany Ilie Cazac’s mother in Transnistria
Representatives of the OSCE expressed readiness to accompany Ilie Cazac’s mother Stela Surchicean in the Transnistrian region to see her son, the deputy head of the Reintegration Office Gheorghe Balan stated for Info-Prim Neo.
“With the help of the OSCE, in the near future Stela Surchicean will be able to see her son who has been under arrest for four months. A day will be agreed when they will go to Transnistria,” Gheorghe Balan said.
Ilie’s mother asked to be accompanied by representatives of international organizations as she is afraid that the letters from the Transnistrian authorities informing her that she can see her son may be a trap.
Stela Surchicean’s brother was phoned by a woman who said she was Ilie Cazac’s lawyer and told that the young man was fine and in good mood. But Ilie’s mother believes it was a set-up by the local ministry of state security and presumes that her son is being sedated.
Ilie Cazac’s parents have protested in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau for 25 days. They demand that the Russian authorities intervene and help set free their son, who is accused of spying for Moldova. The 24-year-old man is liable to 20 years in jail and may be deprived of his property.
