OSCE PA session starts with the proposal to adopt a resolution on Moldova
The 15-th OSCE Parliamentary Assembly starts its works on Monday, July 3, in Brussels, Belgium. During the session it is planned to adopt a resolution regarding Moldova and the Transnistrian conflict.
The head of OSCE PA for RM, Kimmo Kiljunen, who paid a visit to Moldova in mid June, stated that an additional item regarding the approval of a resolution on the situation of RM on the session’s agenda would be included. According to the official, its draft sets clearly the obligation to respect the territorial integrity of RM, within the borders recognized on international level; to provide a special status of Transnistria and to transform the peacekeeping forces into an international mission. Kiljunen also noted that the resolution would show the regret toward the disrespect of obligations assumed by the Russian Federation in Istanbul in 1999 about withdrawing its troops and ammunitions out of the territory of RM.
According to a report of the Parliament’s Press Service, RM parliamentary delegation, headed by the chairman for external policy and European integration, Sergiu Stati, participates in OSCE PA. The deputies Stefan Secareanu and Ion Ciontoloi are also part of the delegation.
OSCE PA session is to be held on July 3-7.
