OSCE PA President to visit Moldova

The President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), Goran Lennmarker, will visit Moldova on May 16-18. The aim of this visit is to take stock of the current state of affairs in Moldova, in particular progress in democratic reforms and process of settling the Transnistrian dispute, as well as to examine ways by which OSCE PA could provide support in solving the Transnistrian problem. The OSCE official will have meetings with President Vladimir Voronin, Speaker Marian Lupu, Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan, and Minister of Reintegration Vasile Sova. The OSCE official will also hold meetings with the leaders of parliamentary factions Eugenia Ostapciuc, PCRM, Vlad Cubreacov, PPCD, Serafim Urechean, “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, Dumitru Diacov, leader of the Democrat Party, as well as with the MPs Oleg Serebrian, Dumitru Braghis, and Vitalia Pavlicenco. On May 18, Goran Lennmarker will visit Tiraspol. At the end of the visit, Goran Lennmarker and Marian Lupu will hold a short press briefing. Moldova’s parliamentary delegation to OSCE PA is headed by the communist MP Grigore Petrenco, chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and European Integration. Goran Lennmarker was elected President of the Assembly at the 2006 Annual Session in Brussels.
