The Special Representative of the German OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Cord Meier-Klodt considers that Moldova needs small success stories in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. According to him, these should provide continuity and wish to solve the existing problems. The official made such statements in a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Government.
Ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt underlined the necessity of working out a new agenda on the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, which would pave the way for the resumption of the talks in the 5+2 format.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the Government is for continuing the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 and 1+1 formats and for intensifying the work of the sector working groups so that palpable results are achieved for the benefit of the people from both sides of the Nistru.
In this connection, the Prime Minister expressed his concern about the situation of the Moldovan-administered, Romanian-language schools in Transnistria, the access of farmers to their land and the exaggerated rise in the tariffs of public utilities for the employees of Moldovan institutions located in the Security Zone.
