OSCE Mission to Moldova hosts personal exhibit of young painter Gheorghe Lisita

The OSCE Mission to Moldova is housing the personal exhibition of the young plastic artist Gheorghe Lisita between November 7 and December 1. The exhibit includes 57 recent works made between 2006 and 2007 counting 47 oil paintings and ten pencil drawings. The works on different themes combine the painting technique and the classical drawing. One of the themes, “Gipsiada”, is represented in pencil. The first personal exhibition of the painter had the same theme and was hosted by the Exhibition Center “Constantin Brancusi”, immediately after Gheorghe Lisita passed the license exam. Another preoccupation of the painter is the architecture. The exhibition presents landscapes, houses, churches and streets in Moldova’s villages – “House in Ursari”, “House in Parjolteni”, “Church in Horodiste”, “The House on the Hill”. A significant number of the paintings were made in Poland, where the painter had lived for a month. The author says that he was impressed by the old Polish towns with citizens and medieval towers and hopes that his dream to paint the streets and domes of Venetia will soon come true. Gheorghe Lisita is original because he knows how to rediscover the things that seem unimportant to many people through a new light and chromatics, the university lecturer Varvara Buzila said at the inauguration of the exhibition. He has a special predilection for a traditional world that is on the verge of extinction because he knows to observe and to make the people pay attention to the things that pass but have a significant value, Varvara Buzila said. Born on July 28, 1982 in Suhuluceni village, Telenesti district, Gheorghe Lisita is a graduate of the National Museum of Plastic Arts “Alexandru Plamadeala” (2001) and of the Academy of Plastic Arts, Music and Theatre in Chisinau (2006). He is now working on the dissertation for the Master’s Degree at the Plastic Arts Department of “Ion Creanga” University in Chisinau. He has organized two personal exhibits and won the second prize of the exhibition-contest “In Memory of Artist Calin Postolachi”.
