OSCE Mission in Moldova houses exhibition of paintings by Vladimir and Tatiana Suma

A family exhibition by painters Vladimir and Tatiana Suma is being held at the OSCE Mission in Moldova. According to the authors, the exhibition aims to build bridges between the painter and the public so that the latter understands the painter’s mood transposed on the canvas. Vladimir Suma says that there should be no barriers between the talents of different regions of a country and of those outside it. He usually paints landscapes in oil that illustrate images of Ukraine and Moldova. The painter says he likes experimenting with colors because they help him transmit his inner state and the condition of the atmosphere. Tatiana Suma works more in graphics, but paints also live nature, focusing mainly on flowers and moments from the childhood of their two daughters, who also started to paint. Several of girls’ works have been also exhibited at the OSCE Mission in Moldova. Tatiana Suma’s collection includes works made according to the batik technology – a method of painting on canvas in successive phases. “The canvas breathes and is open to the world. It can take any shape like the water and is always unpredictable. When you start a new work, you never know how it will look in the end and you get the impression that you make these wonders not by yourself. Every work is incomparable and individual,” Tatiana explains. It is not the first time that the Chisinau public has the occasion to admire the works of art of the Suma family. An exhibition of their works was held at the Center of Culture of the Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau earlier this year. The exhibition housed by the OSCE Mission in Moldova will be open to the public between November 7 and 30. Tatiana and Vladimir Suma were born in Odessa, Ukraine. They both graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Odessa. Tatiana is a member of the Painters Union of Transnistria, while Vladimir is a member of the International Painters Association. At present, Vladimir and Tatiana Suma work as teachers at a primary painting school in Tiraspol. Their works had been on display at a number of regional and international exhibitions.
