The exhibition of the painter Maria Mardare-Fusu inaugurated on Friday, March 30, in the premises of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau. The exhibition dedicated to Easter Holidays is composed of 56 paintings inspired from biblical themes. As Nicolae Dabija puts it, “the art of Mrs Mardare–Fusu emanates sacredness. Her paintings are like windows open to a world which is parallel to that we are living in, to the spiritualization of the material world and the materialisation of the soul, so that it becomes touchable”. According to the Mission’s representative Antonia de Meo, it is natural that during this special period of holidays OSCE should celebrate the art of Maria Mardare-Fusu which is inspired from religious themes. According to her, these paintings create a very special environment, which helps to prepare emotionally and spiritually for the upcoming holidays. Maria Mardare-Fusu graduated from the Republican School of Graphic Arts “I.E. Repin” in Chisinau, receiving membership of the Union of Graphic Artists of Moldova in 1988. Her works have been displayed repeatedly in Moldova and abroad: in Romania, Spain and Hungary. Many of her works are part of private collections in Germany, Russia, Israel, Korea, Canada, and the United States. The OSCE Mission has been organizing such exhibitions for several years; at the beginning – thanks to the fact that some members of the mission were personally interested in art, later this became a tradition. The selection criteria for artists are rather formal, the single condition being that the works should fit the professional atmosphere of the mission. At the same time, unofficially, the mission tries to promote the interests of the artists so that their works arouse commercial interest, the price list of the paintings being also exposed in the office’s hall. Over the last 2 years, about 40 exhibitions of this kind have been organized in the Mission’s premises.
