OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara expressed his concern over the negative implications for the Transnistrian settlement process caused by the recent adoption by the Transnistrian side of the so-called legal act on the border, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Leonid Kozhara considers that the unilateral approval of documents contradicts certain provisions of the Agreement on the principles of the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova of July 21, 1992, as well as other agreements reached earlier by the sides.
The OSCE Chairperson called for making full use of the mechanisms provided by the Permanent Conference on Political Issues in the Framework of the Negotiation Process for the Transnistrian Settlement as well as of other forms of direct dialogue for an open discussion on all pending problems, including the freedom of movement. He also called for refraining from actions and steps that could undermine confidence and adversely affect the atmosphere in the negotiations.
