The Birth of Christ is a family holiday, a holiday of the community, of the human nation. It is the moment that brings together those who share the same values and live the same nice things and feelings related to the presence of God in our life, bishop of Saint Trinity Church of the Chisinau Lyceum “Prometeu-Protalent” Ioan Cosoi stated on the occasion of Christmas celebrated according to the new calendar.
The Birth of Christ is not only a commemorative, anniversary event about the meeting of God with mankind 2,000 years ago. It is permanent work through the whole liturgical cycle related to the Birth of Christ, through the period of preparation for Advent. “For me personally, the meaning of this holiday is to be born again and to give birth to God, Jesus Christ, in my life by listening to his advice, by doing Christian deeds, by the love for God and for the close ones,” the priest stated for IPN.
The people prepare spiritually for Christmas. The preparations during the last week of Advent are more intensive. The church on this feast day is like “the cave of Bethlehem” that welcomes God’s son. All those who find refuge in this “cave” are like “the shepherds who saw Christ being born and like the three Magi who bring gifts to the dear ones”, said the bishop.
He noted that the Christmas Day Liturgy contains special texts and songs and is preceded by the Christmas Eve Liturgy. During these feast days, it is very important for the people to keep calm and to accept each other as they are, without reproaches and quarrels.
Saint Trinity Church of the Chisinau Lyceum “Prometeu-Protalent” has a tradition. On December 25, it welcomes small and older carolers who inform about the Birth of Christ and these receive gifts from Santa Claus.
