Children and youths without both parents may get more and bigger indemnities from the Government. The largest hike in this indemnity will be granted upon finishing the high school — from 500 to 10,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the presidential pres service. At the same time, the indemnity on finishing the general school may be raised 10-fold: from 500 to 10,000 lei. The orphans will get more to buy apparel and footwear at the beginning of the school year: from 500 to 1,000 lei. President Vladimir Voronin also wants other categories of orphans to get more money from the state, as the list of the orphans entitled to get indemnities is to be reviewed. The President uttered those ideas at a meeting with state officials, the communique specifies. The modifications are soon to be considered by the Cabinet and adopted to enter force as from January 1, 2009. The total number of orphan pupils and students in Moldova is some 1,190.
