Orheiul Vechi to host “Gustar – Ethno Music Festival”

The first “Gustar – Ethno Music Festival that will take place on the territory of the cultural-natural reserve Orheiul Vechi on August 29 will include trips to picturesque places, exhibitions of handicrafts and performances of ethno music. The organizers say the visitors will enjoy a nice time while at Orheiul Veschi, which is one of the most attractive places in Eastern Europe, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vlad Costandoi, the head of the Cultural Association “Sens Music”, which is one of the organizers of the festival, said the name of the festival was devised together with Valeriu Postica, of the Creation Association “Echinox”- the second organizer. “We thought to name it “Gustar” because this is an archaic word for “August”,” Costandoi said, stressing the objective of the festival is to promote authentic musical values and popularize Orheiul Vechi as a historical and cultural site. According to Vlad Costandoi, the program of the festival will start with a sightseeing tour at 2pm. It will last for about half an hour. The official part of the festival will begin at 4pm. Ethno-folk singers and bands from Moldova will perform during the first part of the program. Foreign singers will join the national ones in a concert that will start at 7pm. The foreign singers will include Vladiswar Nadishana from Germany, who plays 32 ethno instruments, Carlo Torlontano from Italy, as well as singers from Romania and Bulgaria. Valeriu Pasa, the manager of the cultural-natural reserve Orheiul Vechi, said Orheiul Vechi was chosen as a venue because the festival combines the cultural-historic and natural aspects. “We intend to test a number of things that we hope will become functional throughout the year. We aim to improve the management of the flow of tourists and attract a large number of tourists and to promote Orheiul Vechi at the national and foreign levels,” Valeriu Pasa said. UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova Kaarina Immonen, who is one of the supporters of the festival, said she was glad when she found out that Orheiul Vechi was chosen as a venue. “It is one of the most beautiful places in Moldova. Besides, we opened the first tourist information center in Orheiul Vechi several years ago. That place is set to become a National Park of Moldova,” Kaarina Immonen said. A ticket to the festival costs only 50 lei. The price of a ticket that will include transportation is 100 lei. The tickets are available from the Orheiul Vechi reserve and the National Museum of Archeology and History. The organizers anticipate 3,000 to 5,000 people will attend the festival. The festival is also supported by the Chisinau City Hall and the Government of Moldova.
