Starting with next January, the residents of Orhei town will travel free by the local public transport. Forty new HUNDAY buses will reach the town by that time, mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor said in a televised program, quoted by IPN.
Ilan Shor said that he signed a contract for the purchase of 40 new buses from the Korean company HUNDAY, which will be delivered within five months. He assured that immediately after they reach Orhei, the bus fares will be annulled. “We will thus enter the new year with novelties,” stated the mayor.
Ilan Shor noted that the buses that will be bought with extra-budgetary funds through the public association “Pentru Orhei” (“For Orehi”) are intended especially for the urban traffic and are designed appropriately. The new buses will replace the old units of transport that run now on routes in the town. They consume less fuel and meet the ecological norms, which is important for the town.
Elected mayor of Orhei in the first round of the local general elections of this year, Ilan Shor in the election campaign promised that the residents of the town will travel free by public transport.
