Order of Architects could be established for the first time in Moldova

Architects from both the public and private sectors have proposed the creation of the Order of Architects, an apolitical organization aimed at significantly enhancing the quality of architectural and urban planning services in the country. The proposal was put forward during public consultations on amending the law governing architectural activity, IPN reports.

Additionally, professionals in the field are requesting that the law be clarified and updated to include provisions on copyright for architectural works and to promote architectural project competitions. In light of the shortage of local specialists, architects have also called for the involvement of intercommunal development agencies.

Participants in the consultations are urging that the amendments to the architectural activity law contribute to modernizing the current regulatory framework, aligning it with contemporary European standards.

The draft law was recently proposed on november 1, and the Parliamentary Committee for Public Administration and Regional Development has assured that it will review the suggestions made by participants in the public consultations and will prepare a final report based on these initiatives. The document is scheduled for debate by deputies in next week’s Parliament session.
