The State Weather Service has issued a code orange heatwave alert during August 27-29 August to warn for scorching temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius.
Only the northern districts will be spared of orange, but they will still be under code amber, with temperatures to climb to 35 degrees Celsius.
To prevent the exacerbation of chronic diseases, but also to avoid sunstroke and other negative effects of the heatwave, specialists advise the general public to limit the duration of walks during the interval from 10 AM to 6 PM, consume plenty of water, and wear light colored clothes made of natural fibers. Adults are cautioned to supervise children at all times and never leave them locked in cars, even when they think they will be away for a short time.
Meanwhile, there is also a code amber wildfire alert in place until August 29. Rescuers urge the general public to abstain from making campfires in forests, parks and other wooded areas. In conditions of low humidity, wind and high temperatures, any source of fire out of control can lead to large fires.
