The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a warning concerning a sudden change in weather for February 5-6. It also issued an orange code advisory for snow for the southern and central districts of Moldova and a yellow code advisory for northern Moldova, IPN reports.
There will be sleet and heavy snowfalls of 7-17 liters per square meter, in parts very heavy, of 20-25 liters per square meter.
Layers of snow and ice are expected to form on utility cables and tree branches in parts. There will be snowdrifts on most of the roads.
On February 6 and 7, the temperatures are forecast to decrease by 5 – 7 degrees Celsius.
The sudden change in weather is determined by an Atlantic cyclone coming from Western Europe.
