Weather forecasters extended the orange code advisory for heavy snow and sleet until the coming night. The northeastern wind will intensify in gusts to 17-22 m/s, IPN reports.

Chief of the Weather Forecasts Center of the State Hydrometeorological Center Gennady Rosca said the elements are due to a cold front coming from the Arctic. The cyclone brought cold weather and heavy snowfalls to almost the whole territory of the country. “The cyclone affected mainly the central and southern parts of the Republic of Moldova,” Gennady Rosca stated for IPN.

He also said that such meteorological phenomena in this period of the year in Moldova are witnessed for the first time.
